A stage of the Vuelta a Colombia ended in terrible scenes after the race-winning cyclist accidentally crashed into his wife as he was celebrating.
Luis Carlos Chia came first in the rain-drenched streets of Monteria but was unable to keep control of his bike after crossing the line.
His jubilation quickly soured in a nasty incident that saw him accidentally collide with his wife as he celebrated the victory.
Claudia Roca, his partner, was left face down in the street after the collision and was left requiring stitches as a result.
Chia was fresh from pulling a last-minute overtake on race leader Carlos Quiroz to just pip him at the finish line.
Roca, who works as a professional photographer, was awaiting her partner after the finish line but was unable to avoid the onrushing bike.

Chia later admitted that the incident was a bit of a blur for him but stated that his brakes failed to work in time.
The Colombian rider also admitted the entire affair was a ‘scare’ but he was happy that she emerged without any serious injuries.
She was taken to hospital and Chia decided to dedicate his victory to his partner.
